Smith uses highly-curved 8 and 9 base lenses for most of their sunglass models. Each frame is specifically designed around these highly-curved lenses to provide optical precicsion, good eye coverage from the elements, and long-lasting comfort. All smith lenses incorporate Tapered Lens Technology™ to correct the prismatic effect inherent in standard 8 and 9 base lenses. By displacing the optical center of the lens and tapering the lens thickness, all light, regardless of what angle it hits the lens at, travels straight to the eye. The result is a lens that is corrected for prismatic power, prismatic imbalance, and pattern definition. |
